Who Are We?
We are Piritta and Niina, two Finnish women traveling overland in our rugged 4x4, a 2009 Land Rover Defender 110 2.4 TDCi Puma called the “Honey Badger.”
2019-2025 Africa (South, East and West)
2026-? South America
We zigzagged Africa, the “Mother Continent”, for over six years, and in 2025, we drove through West Africa from Namibia to Finland, as new adventures were waiting from the start of 2026: we shipped the Defender to South America, where we are going to spend the next few years driving from Argentina to Alaska.
So now, in 2026, it’s a new continent, and a chapter in our continuous overlanding expedition!
How did it all begin?
We originally planned our “escape to freedom” from our traditional “9-to-5” jobs for many years before we actually did it. But beginning something is the easy part. Sticking with it is the hard one.
As reality kicks in, not everyone will continue despite the hardships, breakdowns, and the ever-present uncertainty. A full-time overlanding lifestyle is not easy, and it certainly doesn’t fit for everyone, but it’s incredibly gratifying and enriching.
We have pushed through every obstacle that has come our way over the years, and we continue to do so for as long as it takes and as long as we love this lifestyle. Why?
Because living a life that looks 110% like you is more than worth it!
And because living outside of your comfort zone teaches you so much more about yourself, life, and everything.
And because, most of all, life is for living. Now. You never know what tomorrow brings, so don’t wait too long to make your dreams come true and enjoy life how you want it.
As one of our favorite quotes goes:
“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
– Gandalf in J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings”
